Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said a closed-door executive-legislative meeting will be held with law enforcement agencies to address the ambush on Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo Tan and his wife.
The vice mayor said Tan earlier sought help from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to handle the investigation.
Tan and his wife Anita were aboard their Nissan Patrol SUV from the Campuestohan Highlands Resort in Talisay City on their way home to Bacolod City when waylaid and shot multiple times by three unidentified suspects who escaped on board a small white wagon earlier this month at Purok 12A in Bacolod City’s Barangay Alangilan.
Familiaran said he expects the NBI, Philippine National Police, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to attend the meeting.
He added, as of last week, there was no date set for the meeting and it would depend on Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Earlier, the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod approved a resolution authored by City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. to convene the Peace and Order Council to formulate measures to prevent all heinous crimes within the territorial jurisdiction of the city.
Gamboa said heinous crimes against personalities like Atty. Rafael Atutubo and Barangay 16 Captain Nelson Ligaya remain unresolved and a special task force may be formed to address the matter.
He added, a reward system should be implemented to bring about early resolutions to such  high crimes.
“The city of Bacolod, through its local chief executive, may use the intelligence funds in support [of] law enforcement agencies and its support anti-crime groups, such as the Guardians, Barangay Tanods, Peace and Community Action and Crime Stopper Groups,” Gamboa pointed out./DGB, WDJ
