An estimated P7.6 million worth of “high grade” shabu were seized yesterday morning following a buy-bust operation at Sito Upper Mahayahay in Barangay Punao, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified the arrested suspects as 37-year-old Hanjie Alquiza, a high-value drug target; and 41-year-old Roden Zaraga, another drug target.
Based on a report issued by the San Carlos City Police Station, the operation was conducted in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 6.
Cops moved in after Alquiza handed one sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P20,000.
A search of the suspects yielded six big, one medium, and one small sachet of suspected shabu with a total weight of 639.5 grams.
When police questioned Alquiza, he said he picked up the shabu from Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, which is supplied by a courier from Dumaguete City.
Once the shabu arrives, he repacks it and sells it in the city.
Both Alquiza and Zaraga are presently detained at the San Carlos City Police Station and face illegal drugs charges./DGB, WDJ
