The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution earlier this week condemning the recent ambush on Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo Tan.

According to the resolution, penned by City Councilor Caesar Distrito, “Such horrible incident created alarm and panic to the residents and even to public officials.”

The resolution called on law enforcement to conduct “a thorough and speedy investigation.”

In addition, the policy also encouraged city residents to “have the courage to stand against violence.”

Tan was recently ambushed by unidentified gunmen at Purok 12A in Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City. While the city official and his wife sustained minor wounds, all of which were attributed to broken glass caused by bullets striking the vehicle’s windshield, a total 24 empty shells from a 5.56 caliber firearms and seven empty .45 caliber shells were recovered from the crime scene./WDJ
