BTAO currently unable to assess the results

The “experimental” traffic rerouting plan implemented last week for public utility jeepneys (PUJs) by the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) ended yesterday.
The scheme, which included one-way rerouting and route extensions, was implemented due to the recently-opened Ayala Capitol Central Mall as it impacted PUJ routes, particularly along North and South Capitol Roads.
According to BTAO head, Police Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, the rerouting scheme was conducted in response to a request by Ayala Land Inc.
He noted, while one-way rerouting will remain in place, the rest of the scheme will be suspended pending a December 28 meeting.
Acebuche said he currently cannot assess the results due to the ongoing holiday season, which traditionally creates a heavier traffic scenario.
It would be best to implement and observe the results next month, he added./DGB, WDJ
