According to Memorandum Circular No. 54, issued earlier this week by the Office of the President, work at government offices and classes at public colleges and universities will be suspended on January 2.
In terms of other holidays celebrated around the same time, the only observances recognized as regular holidays are December 30, Rizal Day; and January 1, New Year’s Day.
However, a social media post by the Philippine Information Agency noted, “Agencies of government involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness, and other vital services shall continue with their operations.”
The agency also clarified, “Suspension of work is different from declared regular and special Holidays.”/WDJ
