After a provincial employee died last week of a heart attack, the Negros Occidental Provincial Health Office (PHO) cautioned the public over holiday-related illnesses.

PHO head, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, said the public should be cautious with what they eat, especially during Christmas parties.

The provincial government official said the public should not eat too much fatty or sweet foods, along with those high in cholesterol.

He noted, such foods are dangerous for those who have hypertension and diabetes.

Earlier this month, the Iloilo City Health Office (CHO) recently recommended eating moderately this Christmas season.

“Eating your favorite food is not prohibited, like if you want to eat lechon, but you should eat moderately,” explained Iloilo City health officer, Dr. Bernard Caspe.

He added, CHO and all nine Iloilo City health centers offer free blood pressure monitoring and consultation, along with free medication for those with hypertension and diabetes./DGB, WDJ
