For decades, Iloilo City has been suffering from a lack of potable water – even water for laundry. The local water utility firm has never fulfilled the dreams of having an abundant water supply. Historically, Ilonggos smiled as the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) entered a joint venture agreement allowing the Metro Pacific Water (MPW) to enter the scene, giving hope to locals.
MIWD welcomed the agreement with an event at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel.
Among those present included Dr. Teodoro Robles; MIWD Chair and General Manager Imelda Magsuci; Metro Pacific Investments Corporation President Jose Ma. K. Lim, who represented Senator Franklin Drilon; Maynilad Water Services Inc. (Maynilad) President Ramoncito Fernandez; and MPW Director Laurence Rogero.
MIWD employees and officers were also present, along with former Local Water Utilities Administration boss Lorenzo Jamora.
Under the agreement, Iloilo residents are seeing a brighter future as water will flow better through their faucets. Many may not know Maynilad efficiently delivers water to Metro Manila, fulfilling their promise to residents.
Ilonggos will need a bit of patience as the process will take time. Legalities have to be settled, along with land owners understanding the value of a better water supply.
Kudos to MPW for working to make Iloilo City a better place to live.
