Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) floor leader, City Councilor Caesar Distrito, condemned the ambush perpetrated against fellow City Councilor Ricardo Tan in Barangay Alangilan last week.

In a social media post by Distrito, he said violence has no place in Bacolod City and, for whatever reasons, there is no justification to take or attempt to take the life of another person.

Distrito said every Bacolodnon should have the courage to stand against violence and condemn it to the highest degree.

“As floor leader of the SP, I believe my fellow councilors are also condemning such [a] cowardly act,” Distrito said.

The city councilor also urged the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to “do everything in their power” to bring the perpetrators “into the bar of justice.”

He added, law enforcement should solve the recent spate of killings and attempted killings so peace in the city will “return to normalcy.”

Last Friday, Tan and his wife Anita were waylaid while they were on their way back to Bacolod City from the Campuestohan Highlands Resort in Talisay City.

Following the incident, BCPO has deployed additional security detail for the city official./DGB, WDJ
