Following the shooting death of Barangay 16 Captain Nelson Ligaya, Jr., Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia over the weekend ordered the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to set up more checkpoints.

The mayor said police should be on guard at all times.

Leonardia mentioned Ligaya was a former Grupo Progreso member but switched parties after a previous term.

Earlier, Bacolod City Association of Barangay Captains President Lady Gles Gonzales condemned Ligaya’s murder and stated there were no signs he was dealing with any problems, nor did he indicate ever receiving threats on his life./DGB, WDJ
