2.2-magnitude tremor strikes Guihulngan City
Following the 2.1-magnitude earthquake that struck the waters off the coast of Anini-y, Antique last Thursday morning, another 2.1-magnitude tremor was recorded early Saturday morning.
According to a Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) bulletin, there were no reported damages as a result of the incident, nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where very few even feel the tremor.
A 2.2-magnitude quake earlier struck the town last October.
Meanwhile, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental also felt a Saturday morning tremor, when seismic activity measuring 2.2 in magnitude was recorded around 8:40 a.m.
A subsequent Phivolcs bulletin also reported no damages as a result of the incident, nor were aftershocks expected./WDJ
