Motorcyclist and backrider were not wearing helmets

A motorcyclist and his backrider were killed yesterday morning after they overshot the bridge outside the San Antonio Abad Parish Church and plunged into the Lupit River along Lacson Extension at Purok Malinong in Barangay 40, Bacolod City.
Police identified the fatalities as Dimple Ermeo, a resident of Bago City; and Romel Baones, a resident of Cauayan.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) traffic investigators said the motorcycle was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the incident occured.
Ermeo was instantly killed, while Baones was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Both victims suffered fatal head injuries as they were not wearing helmets.
Police also believe the two many have been intoxicated, which is currently being looked into.
Following the incident, BCPO reminded the public to be cautious and alert when driving or riding a motorcycle, especially at night.
