The Iloilo Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) yesterday launched their quick response (QR) code, which, when clicked, will provide information about tourist attractions across the province.
“It is very beneficial for tourists, both local and foreign, because it will now be easy for them to reach different destinations,” explained Iloilo PTO head Gilbert Marin. “They can go to their preferred spots without the aid of tourism officers or information officers.”
A total 20 Iloilo locales were among the first batch to receive the QR code
Codes will be placed at their respective city hall or municipal hall and visitors can scan the code on their smartphones and immediately pull up information about the area’s cultural, historical, and man-made sites.
PTO plans to distribute codes to all 43 local government units in the province by summer next year.
The project was made possible through partnership with Smart Communications Inc. and InnoPub.
Last July, Iloilo City launched an official mobile app.
Through the app, users can access jobs bulletin, acquire citizen ID cards, conduct business, discover Iloilo City, view moments, and browse news and events./WDJ
