The 13th Negros Island Organic Farmers’ Festival opens today, November 28, at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol.
A thanksgiving mass will kick off festivities, with addresses expected from Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. and Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo. Also invited to the opening rites were Senator Cynthia Villar, Department of Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, and Soil and Organic Movement Inc. CEO Rei Yoon.
The four-day occasion will feature organic products and showcase sustainable innovations and technologies.
There will also be lectures on a variety of topics including rice production, coco sugar, natural farming, organic cacao and chocolate making, food safety, black pig raising, among other subjects./WDJ
