The suspect in last week’s brutal murder of a woman in Barangay Ayungon, La Carlota City surrendered to police after several days in hiding.

The suspect, identified as Abelardo ‘Third’ Historiador III, a resident of Purok 10, Barangay 1 of the said city, admitted to killing 26-year-old Merlyn Villamar, a resident of San Enrique.

La Carlota City police chief, Police Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, said, when questioned, Historiador admitted to striking Villamar in the head with a rock, which ultimately killed her.

The victim did not show any signs of sexual assault based on an autopsy report, despite the victim being found not wearing underwear.

Vargas said murder charges were filed against Historiador before the La Carlota City Prosecutor’s Office last Friday.

Historiador is presently detained at the La Carlota City Police Station and is awaiting transfer to a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility./DGB, WDJ
