The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) last week passed a resolution calling on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to construct a diversion road linking Barangay Taloc, Bago City to the Bacolod Economic Highway.
According to the resolution’s author, City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr., the road would divert hundreds of heavy vehicles from southern Negros Occidental to the boundary of Barangay Taloc and Bacolod City’s Barangay Sum-ag, which he called “an ideal location.”
The city official added, the road would also decongest traffic along Araneta Street from Barangay Sum-Ag to the Central Gas Corporation in Barangay Pahanocoy.
The Bacolod Economic Highway is a 21.8-kilometer road that will cover areas across Bacolod City barangays Sum-ag, Cabug, Felisa, Handumanan, Mansilingan, Estefania, Granada, Mandalagan, and Bata./JSG, WDJ
