La Carlota City police are currently looking into three persons of interest in connection to the remains found in the city earlier this week. Law enforcement earlier identified the victim as 26-year-old Merlyn Villamar, a resident of Barangay Guintorilan, San Enrique.
La Carlota City police chief, Police Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, reaffirmed autopsy results that found the victim died from a head injury and, noted, coroners said they were unable to find any new lacerations near the victim’s genitals, which may rule out a possible rape.
A rape was believed to have taken place as Villamar’s remains were found without underwear.
Police earlier interviewed her mother, who said she last saw her daughter on Sunday. The younger Villamar said she was going out with friends but never returned home./DGB, WDJ
