“…Help the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality…” –Romans 12:13

Liza Vicencio Elorde, co-owner of countless Elorde Gyms and Elorde Sports Centers, recently referred to the Rotary International District 3810 officers she installed as “The Knockout Team.” As District 3810 governor, she conducted a two-day Pre-Presidents Elect Training Seminar (Pre-PETS) training session with officials and presidents-elect of the clubs within the district, which covers Manila, Pasay City, Cavite, and Occidental Mindoro.

Why did she select “The Knockout Team?” In her speech during the conclusion of Pre-PETS, she said it was the intention for her administration to “knock out” problems afflicting the poor and marginalized, including poverty, poor health, illiteracy, among other matters.

Elorde said she wanted to provide a “different breed of service” by alleviating the difficulties and suffering of those who are economically-deprived.

She also sounded the call for Rotarians to close ranks and join hands to offer a united and concerted effort to ensure all Rotary International projects are successful and meaningful. The district governor urged fellow Rotarians to be prepared to make sacrifices in order for the organization to assist the helpless and needy.

In response to the clamor by many on Facebook, this column is again publishing Biblical messages.

Here are some of them: “Why is there a need for us to proclaim and teach the words of Jesus? Because they will also be blessed, guided, and protected, if they will also accept and have faith in Jesus because of our proclamation.”

According to John 17: “… As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified… My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you… Health and economic success will be given to those who listen to, and obey, the commands of God. Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies…”
