The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently turned over a science and technology academic and research-based openly-operated kiosk station (STARBOOKS), a digital science and technology library, to the Department of Education-Division of San Carlos City (DepEd-San Carlos City).
“In this digital era, learning materials for students must be upgraded and latest technology must be applied,” said Provincial Science and Technology Center Director Allan Francis Dara-ug. “With the STARBOOKS, it provides an augmented [science and technology] oriented platform aligned with the K-12 Program.”
Among the local schools that will have access to the videos, educational materials, science and math courses, and DOST research provided by the program include Bagonbon National High School, Quezon National High School, Julio Ledesma National High School, Don Carlos Ledesma National High School, and Sipaway National High School.
DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute Director Richard Burgos was present for the event as he signed the memorandum of understanding with Dara-ug for the STARBOOKS turnover. Meanwhile, San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo Valmayor; DepEd-San Carlos City superintendent, Dr. Allan Yap; local principals and teachers; among others also joined the occasion.
