An unidentified group of armed men reportedly attacked a construction site late Tuesday night at Sitio Las Altas, Purok 12A in Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City.

Based on a report by Police Station 5 (PS5), around five armed individuals were attacking the said site.

The suspects reportedly smashed the building’s glass windows and tried to set the building on fire.

The report also claimed the property was owned by the family of Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia and was being developed by a businessman named Ian Lo.

However, when asked about the report, the mayor said they do not maintain any property in the area and has questioned the allegations.

“Where did that report come from?” Leonardia asked. “Just because the elections are getting near I now have a property?”

“I think this is about politics,” he added.

Leonardia pointed out, he knows Lo, noting, he is the owner of Negros Grace Pharmacy and the brother of Jonathan Lo, president and chief executive officer of CM and Sons Food Products Incorporated, Merzci Pasalubong’s parent company.

“I don’t have any message to my detractors, I just ask the people not to fall prey to these people who give false information,” the mayor stated.

The Bacolod City Police Office, meanwhile, has yet to comment on who they suspect may be behind the attack./DGB, WDJ
