Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific flights were canceled yesterday morning at Bacolod-Silay Airport due to an emergency simulation exercise by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
There were also three flights reportedly delayed due to the situation.
According to CAAP-Bacolod Public Information Officer Ofelia Leonardo, the exercise could impact the CAAP safety grade with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), who evaluated the exercise.
Due to safety concerns, Philippine-based airliners had been previously banned from flying into the European Union.
Leonardo noted, the results should be available in a few days, wherein they will learn about their performance and possible areas for improvement./DGB, WDJ
