Negros Occidental gubernatorial candidate, incumbent Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, called for calm amid the recent killing of Atty. Benjamin Ramos, Jr., secretary-general for human rights group, the National Union of the People’s Lawyers-Negros.

“There is no reason for fear and panic,” he stressed.

The vice governor said he is leaving it to the appropriate authorities to “do their jobs to maintain peace and order.”

Lacson also denied claims killings have become a frequent event in Negros Occidental, noting, “Nobody can say there is a breakdown in peace and order in the province.”

Ramos was gunned down late Tuesday night by riding-in-tandem suspects in Barangay 5, Kabankalan City./DGB, WDJ
