Candidate for Negros Occidental governor, incumbent Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, said he is skeptical of his opponent’s plan to reopen the Dacongcogon Sugar Central in Kabankalan City.

While gubernatorial candidate, Atty. Rolando Parpa, who chairs the Dacongcogon Farmers Producers Cooperative, said he is frustrated by the problems farmers have to deal with, particularly those in the sugar industry, Lacson said sugar central operations can only resume if there is an interested investor.

He added, restarting operations would be difficult since the Southern Negros Development Corporation Sugar Refining Mill also operates in the same city.

Parpa, a native of Pontevedra, said he is running on behalf of farmers./DGB, WDJ
