The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) was placed on ‘red alert’ status yesterday ahead of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day observances, which take place today, November 1, and tomorrow, November 2, respectively.
NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr., said security and deployment plans have been disseminated to all police stations in Negros Occidental.
The NOPPO chief also instructed station commanders to strategically concentrate deployments to cemeteries, transport terminals, malls, public markets, and other place of convergence; which he said could become targets for criminals due to the expected large influx of people.
He said a concentration of personnel would deter criminals from taking advantage of the situation.
As part of the deployment, police stations in the province were also instructed to initiate operational and administrative activities to increase public awareness regarding crime prevention as well as provide safety tips to the community.
Castil also reminded personnel to stay alert and vigilant at all times in order to preempt and prevent crimes./DGB, WDJ
