The recently-inaugurated Coastal Resource Management and Disaster Risk Reduction Learning Center in Barangay Chambery, Manapla is powered by solar energy. The two-storey facility serves as an office and training venue for the Chambery Multi-sectoral People’s Alliance and the local Bantay Dagat outpost, along with advocating and providing information regarding coastal resource management and disaster risk reduction.
According to Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement-Negros area manager Edwin Balajadia, the establishment is an advancement in the initiative’s work in maintaining sustainable fisheries, community empowerment, and advocating for renewable energy and environmental governance on the island.
The building was inaugurated earlier this month, with Manapla Mayor Socorro Lourdes Escalante and Barangay Chambery Captain Ronnie Salo present for the event./WDJ
