President Rodrigo Duterte offered his support for incumbent Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson after the latter is elected governor in next year’s midterm elections.

According to Lacson, the two spoke during the president’s recent visit.

After joining the MassKara Festival, Duterte attended a dinner party in Barangay Bubog, Talisay City, which was attended by several local and national officials.

Lacson added, he was told to get in touch with former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go for any needs for the province, adding, the latter is still capable of accommodating requests from the Office of the President.

Under the unified Love Una ticket, the incumbent vice governor was expected to run unopposed for the top post; however, Atty. Rolandon Parpa, who said he wants to address the problems faced by farmers, also filed a certificate of candidacy for Negros Occidental governor./DGB, WDJ
