A 45-year-old man was arrested at the Dumangas Port last week after he allegedly made a “bomb joke” while inside the facility.
Police identified the suspect as Luisito Monares, a resident of Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City.
Based on a radio report, a security guard was conducting a routine check of his bag when Monares reportedly told the guard there was a bomb inside the bag.
The guard immediately contacted several police officers, who arrested Monares on the spot.
A search of Monares’ bag yielded no explosives, however, they recovered two sachets of suspected shabu.
Aside from charges in violation of Presidential Decree 1727, which imposes penalties on those who make false claims regarding bombs and other such explosives, Monares also faces raps for possession of illegal drugs./DGB, WDJ
