At least 12 people were arrested late Monday afternoon after they were caught engaging in illegal gambling activity in Barangay Laga-an, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the arrested individuals as Michael Legaspi, Jose Leopoldo, Welfredo Libre, Jose Uyanib, Jovie Maqueller, Benidecto Omblero, Samson Mancia, Carlos Bargamento, Romulo Abiso, Emello Bacalla, Jeslanie Screbano, and Jury Lebre.

Reports from Calatrava municipal police said they arrested the individuals after receiving a tip claiming they were playing illegal gambling game Cara y Cruz.

Police recovered three coins being used as flip coins and P813 in suspected bet money.

All 12 are now detained at the Calatrava Municipal Police Station on illegal gambling charges./DGB, WDJ
