Duterte needs a miracle to improve internet service

“…For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first…” –1 Thessalonians 4:16

The administration of President Rodrigo Duterte must do something truly remarkable about the sorry state of the country’s internet. Over two years since being voted into office, Filipinos continues to suffer from poor service that is exorbitantly-priced.

Earlier this week, while trying to access the internet at Puerto Princesa International Airport, a photo from the provider popped up saying they were unable to provide service.

I urgently pray the Duterte administration can really do something to bring about true change in the local telecommunications industry, which he promised while on the campaign trail.

For the sake of those who believed in the then-candidate and are beginning to have doubts, the president must produce tangible results in the telecommunications industry or face being deserted by his original supporters.

Mindanao is a lot safer under Martial Law

Should Martial Law in Mindanao be extended beyond December 31, 2018? I would push for an extension of another year – even longer. In my recent experience in Iligan City, where I attended my nephew’s wedding earlier this month, there is relative peace and calm.

Sure there were a lot of police officers and military solders during a festival earlier this month but it was only because people came out in droves for the event knowing it would be safe.

What the Duterte administration needs to be careful about are abuses by law enforcement and the military, and the transformation into an instrument of political repression, self-aggrandizement, and economic advancement.

Christians hold differing views on the last supper. As far as the Children of God Blood Kin of the Christ Church, or the Simbahang Anak ng Diyos Kadugo Ni Kristo (AND KNK) is concerned, the last supper is referred to as the “holy union of the Holy flesh, blood, and Spirit of Jesus with the sinful flesh, blood, and spirit.”

The event also proves Jesus is God and Savior, and is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Why? While distributing the bread and wine, He said they were His body and blood that would give salvation to mankind. In many other verses of the Bible, it is recognized there is only One who says He is the Savior – God the Father alone. Clearly, the “body” and “blood” of Jesus, which can forgive sins, is the “body” and “blood” of the Father.

One question received via mobile phone (0933-825-1308) asked: “Atty. Batas, can I marry another since my spouse and I have been separated for seven years already?”

According to Lawyers in the Light (or Lawyers Instructed on Godliness, Humility, and Truth): No, even if spouses have been separated for seven years (or more), this marriage is not allowed by law. Marital relations remain valid and existing until an annulment of the first marriage is sought beforehand.
