According to the Bacolod City Veterinary Office (CVO), around 48,000 dogs have been vaccinated across the city.
City Veterinarian, Dr. Ma. Agueda Dela Torre, said, following the conclusion of their most recent vaccination drive, they still have enough vaccinations to treat another 10,000 dogs.
She added, those who still need inoculations for their pets can access them at the downtown CVO office. Vaccinations cost P50 per dog.
Last month, Department of Health-Region VI (DOH-6) Rabies Program coordinator Ame Liz Mardoquio said they are informing all local government units in the region to step up their rabies vaccination programs by targeting a 70 percent inoculation rate for their respective dog populations.
According to an earlier DOH-6 report, from January to June of this year, the department recorded a total of 51,967 dog bite cases in the Western Visayas./WDJ
