A send-off ceremony was held yesterday at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) for the 3,194 emergency personnel tasked with overseeing this weekend’s MassKara Festival highlights.

A holy mass was celebrated, followed by an inter-agency meeting at the BCGC annex building.

Security will be a primary concern during the festival highlights as President Rodrigo Duterte, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, and their respective entourages are expected to attend.

Earlier this month, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said they would be implementing strict security measures.

BCPO spokesperson, Police Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, urged festival goers to refrain from bringing sharp objects and non-transparent backpacks in order to prevent any cause for alarm.

He also urged festival goers not to bring any jewelry or any valuables which can lure thieves.

In addition, the National Telecommunications Commission will be jamming mobile phone signals during festival highlights./DGB, WDJ
