Officiating seminar-workshop opens today

A Negros Occidental Provincial Sports Council sports officiating seminar-workshop opens today across the province. Today’s events run until Saturday, October 20, while a second session will run from October 29 to 31.

The event seeks to update sports officiating officials on current trends, rules and regulations, and competencies in managing competitions through lectures, practical application, examinations, and a physical fitness test.

Organizers will also be identifying qualified individuals to officiate the Congressional District Athletic Association Meet and Palarong Panlalawigan, along with being recommended for the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet.

Venues are incumbent on sport. Athletics will be held at the Pontevedra track oval; volleyball at the Pontevedra gym; archery and softball – Doña Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School in Silay City; tennis – Silay City tennis court; dance sport – Rizal Cultural and Civic Center in Silay City; arnis – Lopez Jaena National High School in Murcia; badminton – Victorias City Cultural Center; basketball and boxing – Victorias City Coliseum; and baseball, swimming, and football.

Meanwhile, in Bacolod City, billiards, taekwondo, pencak silat, and wushu will be hosted at Negros Occidental High School; chess and table tennis – STI-West Negros University; gymnastic – Bata Elementary School; and Paralympics – Bacolod City Division Hall./JSG, WDJ
