A minor 1.9-magnitude earthquake was recorded west of Sipalay City early yesterday morning.
According to a Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletin, the tremor struck just before 4:00 a.m. with no reported damages as a result of the incident, nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where very few even feel the tremor.
Last week, seismic activity was detected in Sipalay City twice in the same day with 2.3 and 2.6-magnitude tremors striking the Negros Occidental locality./WDJ
