Binalbagan Mayor Emmanuel Aranda denied accusations claiming he has not taken action on human rights violations allegedly committed within the municipality.

In a statement forwarded to the media, Aranda explained the municipality conducted a multi-sectoral conference last August 17, which was attended by various progressive, religious, government, and non-governmental organizations.

The event was also attended by local police, the Philippine Army 303rd Brigade and 62nd Infantry Battalion, and the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).

The conference cited a community support program to justify the army’s presence, with the latter encouraging all complaints to be properly filed. The mayor added, the said complaints would then be investigated by CHR.

Aranda also called his administration “fair” in terms of providing “a public service that knows no boundaries.”/DGB, WDJ
