In response to reports of rising inflation, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. recently issued an executive order reorganizing the Provincial Local Price Coordinating Council (PLPCC).
During an earlier meeting of the PLPCC, it was noted, the group needed to expand and include representatives from the National Food Authority, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, and Bacolod-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The governor noted, an amendment is also needed to adjust an earlier provincial executive order to have the PLPCC adjust to the expanded representation, along with further address concerns related to price stability and the supply of basic necessities and commodities.
As an initial step, PLPCC has requested the Department of Trade and Industry and Department of Agriculture to furnish them with reports and findings in order for the council to assess what areas need attention./DGB, WDJ
