By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga
At least five people, including a minor, were apprehended by Talisay City police Sunday afternoon after they were caught conducting alleged illegal gambling activity in the city’s Barangay Matab-ang.
Police identified the suspects as 33-year-old Erwin Alegada, 45-year-old Alfredo Desaca, 25-year-old Winston Deboyan, and 20-year-old Ed Clinton Malunes. Authorities, meanwhile, refused to name the 17-year-old minor.
According to local law enforcement, the suspects were arrested during an anti-gambling operation, where they recovered two spiders being used for fighting, six spider cases, one wooden stick, and bet money amounting to P1,050.
The suspects were immediately detained at the Talisay City Police Station, while the minor was handed over to the city’s social welfare and development office./DGB, WDJ
