Former Negros Occidental Governor Rafael Coscolluela expressed optimism over the merger between the province’s main political coalitions, the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) and Love Negros, saying it will “reap benefits.”
“Let’s just hope the development agenda of the next administration will capably address the changing needs of the province and our people, and that the new leadership will bring about an empowering, ethical, and effective governance,” he said.
Last Wednesday, UNegA and Love Negros, led by Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr.and third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez, respectively, formally announced their merger. They also endorsed incumbent Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, a Love Negros member, for governor and former fourth district Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer, a member of UNegA, for vice governor.
“Having everyone working in unison will be advantageous for Negros,” the former governor contended./DGB, WDJ
