Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito, who is on his third and final term, recently announced he would be taking a rest from politics after the 2019 midterm elections and said his mother would run in his place.

In a statement furnished to local reporters, the city councilor, who is the current Sangguniang Panlungsod majority floor leader, called himself a “Grupo Progreso soldier,” referring to the ruling political coalition.

He also brushed aside talks claiming he would run for vice mayor in the upcoming polls.

“Bacolod is in good hands with Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, and Congressman Greg Gasataya,” he insisted.

In his current role, Distrito also chairs the SP Committee on Finance, along with two other committees./DGB, WDJ
