Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña brushed aside reports of a potential challenge in the upcoming 2019 midterm elections from his deputy, embattled Vice Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo, who is currently confined to a detention center in La Castellana.

“She can do whatever she wants, she may run, she may crawl, she may tumble, I don’t care,” he said during an interview.

Despite being named as the official Love Negros candidate for mayor, Peña has also been considered a potential contender for Negros Occidental fifth district congressman, which is set to be vacated by Rep. Alejandro Mirasol, who is currently serving his third and final term.

Garcia-Yulo is currently detained after being served an arrest warrant surrounding illegal possession of explosives charges.

The charges stemmed from two fragmentation grenades recovered from Garcia-Yulo’s vehicle after Moises Padilla municipal police chief, then under Police Chief Inspector Alan Reloj, conducted a search last year at a police checkpoint./DGB, WDJ
