The Dumaguete City government recently announced, following ongoing plans to install a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system throughout the city to monitor for criminality and traffic violations, they also plan to implement a traffic light system.
“The installation of traffic lights system is the next big project,” the city government press release confirmed.
Officials also believe traffic lights will allow enforcers more opportunities to focus on penalizing errant motorists rather than merely directing traffic.
Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has already deployed the Bids and Awards Committee and Technical Working Group to study other cities with such amenities, including Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City./WDJ
