The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) recently revealed they would host the fourth quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on November 5.

“Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao will be issuing an executive order for all [Provincial Capitol] employees to participate in the earthquake drill,” said Antique PDRRM Officer Broderick Train.

He said the drill will be held in San Jose de Buenavista, the province’s capital, with an estimated 3,000 participants expected.

Train added, a tsunami simulation exercise will also be held in Anini-y.

Antique experienced a 4.0-magnitude earthquake last month, which struck east of Valderrama.

While the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported no damage recorded as a result of the incident, along with no anticipated aftershocks, 4.0-magnitude quakes are often classified as a Level 4 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where the tremor is more noticeable indoors, with a feeling similar to a heavy truck striking a building./WDJ
