A minor 1.8-magnitude earthquake was recorded near La Libertad, Negros Oriental last Wednesday night. A Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletin noted there was no damage recorded as a result of the tremor, nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Seismic activity was recorded near the municipality twice last month as a 2.2 and 2.3-magnitude quake struck the area.
Most recently, a 2.2-magnitude quake was recorded Monday night with an epicenter pinpointed just east of Buenavista, Guimaras.
Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where very few even feel the tremor./WDJ
