ILOILO City – Six people from Jaro and Mandurriao districts have been arrested for allegedly engaging in illegal gambling, a police report showed.

Conrado Honiana, Lynie Adorna and Margarita Celiz of Barangay Maria Cristina, Jaro were caught playing the card game “tong-its” in their village.

Police recovered from themat 5 p.m. on Monday were a deck of playing cards and P377 worth of bet money.

Facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602, which prescribes stiffer penalties for illegal gambling, they were taken to the Jaro police station.

At around 4:30 p.m. of the same day the following residents were arrested in Barangay Santa Rosa, Mandurriao:

* Gilbert Sandingan

* Mark Anthony Gomez

* Aljohn Apresto

They were caught playing the card game “pusoy,” police said.

Adeck of playing cardswere also recovered from them along with P210 worth of bet money.The three locals were detained at the Mandurriao police station./PN
