A minor earthquake struck just east of Sipalay City early Saturday morning. According to a Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) bulletin, a 2.9-magnitude tremor struck just after 5:30 a.m.
The agency reported no damage recorded from the incident, nor did they project any aftershocks.
Two earthquakes were also earlier recorded in the region last Wednesday.
The first struck was west of Tubungan, Iloilo around 9:30 p.m. and recorded a magnitude of 3.1; while the second occurred in the waters west of Basay in Negros Oriental and measured 2.0 in magnitude.
The tremors that struck Negros are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where very few even feel the tremor; while a 3.1 is typically considered a Level II, where some people are able to feel movement, particularly on the upper floors of buildings./WDJ
