The Philippine Statistics Authority is currently conducting fishery surveys of households, aquafarms, and fish landing centers across Aklan, looking into commercial, municipal, inland, and aquaculture fishing operations.

According to Provincial Statistics Officer Antonet Catubuan, data from the surveys will be used to assess the performance of the fishing industry on national, regional, and provincial levels.

Among the data being collected include the volume and value of fish unloaded at different landing centers, along with other fishery production at aquafarms and households.

Last year’s data found fisheries production in Aklan totaled 22,285 metric tons./WDJ
