Around 60 New People’s Army (NPA) members and supporters recently surrendered to the Philippine Army.
In a radio interview yesterday morning, Philippine Army 62nd Infantry Battalion commander, Lieutenant Colonel Egbert Dacoscos, said the said rebels are residents of two barangays in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
Dacoscos said those yielding to the military took an oath of allegiance, promising not to return to the rebel group.
During the ceremony, the surrendered rebels also turned over firearms as part of the national government’s “balik-baril” program.
They are also expected to receive government assistance./DGB, WDJ
