After earlier reports revealed University of St. La Salle (USLS) table tennis player Micah B. Tanate, a Lopue’s Table Tennis Association (LOPTTA) trained athlete and gold medalist at the recent 2018 Batang Pinoy National Finals table tennis competition, was headed to China to participate in an advanced training camp later this year, coach Marell V. Lagunday said players should continue to improve.

“Players should not be contented [with] winning in Bacolod City and then [resting] on their laurels,” she explained. “They should continue to practice more to improve each day.”

“LOPTTA always [believes], if our level of play here is at par, if not above, the level of [other] players in the country, then championships will be ours,” she added.

Last July, LOPTTA and USLS players received a donation of Mizuno table tennis shoes.

Sports benefactor James Sy facilitated the donation of 26 pairs of shoes from Japan, noting, proper equipment will help young players perform well./PLL, WDJ
