The Talisay City Police Station has formed a special investigation team to probe the shooting at a home owned by local radio broadcaster Rey Siason.

According to Siason, the formation of the team was ordered by top officials from the Philippine National Police.

He said the team would be led by Talisay City deputy police chief, Police Inspector Joebel Niturada. Also assigned to the team are Senior Police Officer 4 (SPO4) Frankie Paciente, who will serve as chief investigator; while SPO2 Daniel Nagtapon was assigned as assistant team leader.

Earlier this week, Siason’s home at the Carmela Valley Homes Subdivision was fired upon by two unidentified gunmen.

The media personality was not at home during the attack and was only informed of the incident after his daughter contacted him.

Police recovered seven bullet fragments and an empty .45 caliber shell from the crime scene.

Siason admitted he had been receiving death threats since last year as he also serves as a media witness for drug-related arrests.

Following the incident, various media organizations condemned the attack and called law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident and arrest the perpetrators.

The New People’s Army Leonardo Panaligan Command is also conducting its own investigation and threatened the still-unidentified suspects with death./DGB, WDJ
