In their International Day of Peace message yesterday, the National Youth Commission called on Filipino youth to promote and value peace.

“When we have peace in our hearts and minds as individuals, we develop a better mindset of promoting peace in our respective communities,” the agency posted on social media.

They also credited the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) as a vehicle to promote peace.

“The resurrection of the SK is one strategy where young people can promote peace among their peers,” they explained. “Instead of engaging in physical brawls when there are arguments during sports activities, we clamor for a peaceful dialogue between contending teams.”

“The youth’s role in this generation is to become advocates of peace,” he added.

Every September 21, the United Nations observes the International Day of Peace, which seeks to strengthen the ideals of peace between nations and people./WDJ
