Following the recent announcement of a formal unity ticket in the upcoming 2019 midterm elections, with incumbent Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, a Love Negros member, seeking the governorship with 2016 vice gubernatorial candidate and former Negros Occidental fifth district Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer of the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) as his running mate, Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña confirmed Love Negros is still making arrangements for 2019.

During a recent press conference, he said the political coalition met over the weekend.

When pressed on rumors that he was planning on running to represent the Negros Occidental fifth congressional district, set to be vacated by incumbent Rep. Alejandro Mirasol next year, the Moises Padilla mayor said an arrangement was currently in place.

After pointing out, “I was supposed to run back in 2016 since it was my turn,” Peña explained, an agreement was made with Sugar Regulatory Administration board member, Atty. Emilio Yulo, wherein he and the Gatuslao clan would alternate running for posts.

He added, the agreement was also co-signed by Himamaylan City Mayor Agustin Ernesto Bascon and Vice Mayor Carminia Bascon, the mayor’s mother.

Both mayors, Yulo, and Marilou Arroyo are currently being floated as potential candidates./DGB, WDJ
