Capiz Police Provincial Office officer-in-charge, Police Senior Superintendent Canelo Fuentes, recently revealed 621 illegal firearms were recovered throughout the province as part of the ongoing “Tokhang for illegal firearms,” which was implemented nationwide last July.

He noted, police officials will keep possession of the firearms while eligible owners apply for license renewals.

The municipality of Tapaz saw the most firearms seized with 190.

In addition, a total of 144 units of ammunition and five various explosives were recovered amid the campaign.

Last month, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported 152 illegal firearms had been surrendered to law enforcement.

BCPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, said most of the guns surrendered were from those in the process of renewing permits./WDJ
